What Does Nasal Obstruction Correction Involve?
Nasal obstruction correction surgery is not a one-size-fits-all type of procedure. Your treatment will be customized to the causes of your breathing difficulties. Dr. Sajjadian will examine you extensively during your consultation and will determine the best treatment plan to resolve your problems. Common nasal obstruction correction procedures include:
- Septoplasty
- Turbinate Removal
- Correction of Nasal Fracture
- Correction of Deviated Septum
Dr. Sajjadian may perform one or a combination of these procedures during your surgery. Surgery typically takes about an hour and most patients return home shortly after surgery. Incisions will be made inside of the nostrils or along the columella (skin between the nostrils). Recovery times are typically minimal, much less than a cosmetic rhinoplasty.
What’s Recovery Like After Nasal Obstruction Correction?
Most patients return home shortly after surgery to recover. You may experience some bruising or swelling, but this typically subsides within a few days. Your nose will be dressed with gauze. Dr. Sajjadian may recommend that you keep the head elevated and apply ice packs throughout the day. Nasal irrigation sprays may help healing after the dressings have been removed.
