Size Issues about Breast Implants

Surprisingly, there is no set standard when it comes to sizing the breast and choosing breast implant sizes.  We’ve found here in our Newport Beach office that the best method is to try on a variety of breast implants (commonly done during breast augmentation consultations) along with looking through a variety of Dr. Sajjadian’s before and after pictures of those who’ve already had the procedure and have relatively the same body type as you. It is also helpful to bring in a photo of the proportional size and look you are after if you have one at home.

It is not always easy to determine the exact size and shape of the breast implant you will require and want without an examination by a board certified plastic surgeon. Here in our Newport Beach office we take several measurements and document certain characteristics of your breast and body frame to determine the optimal breast implant size and shape that would be best for you and give you your desired results. What looks good on a woman who is 5’9’’ is going to be very different for a petite woman who is only 5’2’’.

The width of the chest (ribcage) will greatly determine the maximal volume per implant profile that a woman can accommodate without looking too unnatural. For example, a 100 cc (that’s how much fluid or silicone is in the breast implant) difference between implants may make a significant difference on a woman with a narrow chest compared to a woman with a wide chest wall and wide breast “footprint”.  For our Newport Beach breast augmentation clients, we also take into consideration whether or not the breast implants will be above or below the chest wall muscles. It often depends on the look desired look, the amount of sagging present, along with some other factors.
