Tummy Tuck
You work out religiously for the sake of your figure. Stomach crunches and plank holds are a daily routine as are the stationary bike and elliptical machine. You eat right for the same reason, but your tummy just lays there. You cringe in front of your mirror by the shower. You seek help regaining the tummy of your youth.
Having a tight, toned stomach is essential in the beach communities of Southern California, where the bikini is a staple for beach attire. Some women can enjoy a tight abdominal contour by following a serious diet and exercise routine; others suffer the effects of pregnancy and weight loss, and need help achieving the abdomen they desire. Tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty, is designed to tighten and tone the stomach by removing excess skin and fat. As an added benefit, the procedure also tightens the abdominal muscles that have weakened or separated, creating an “internal girdle” that keeps the stomach flat and toned.

A tummy tuck Newport Beach should be done for your personal self-confidence, not to satisfy another’s idea of your body’s appearance.
A tummy tuck should be considered if:
- You have no health issues and are physically healthy
- You have realistic expectations
- You don’t smoke or are willing to quit
- You feel uncomfortable with excess skin and stubborn fat in the abdominal area
What to Expect
To prepare for your tummy tuck procedure, you should avoid any blood thinners like aspirin, ibuprofen, and Tylenol for two weeks prior, and two weeks following your tummy tuck surgery. Patients over the age of 50 need an EKG.
Tummy tuck surgery is performed on an outpatient basis at a local surgery center with a general anesthesia.
Before surgery, Dr. Sajjadian will meet with you to answer any questions or concerns you might have at the time. He will mark your abdomen while reviewing the surgery with you.
After anesthesia, Dr. Sajjadian will make a horizontal incision right above the pubic area, extending from hipbone to hipbone. C-section scars are often removed simultaneously. Through the incision, liposuction will remove deposits of fat and excess skin.
To free the naval from surrounding tissue, a second incision is required vertically. Skin and fat layers above the abdominal wall are lifted to expose the abdominal muscles. These muscles will be pulled tighter together, then sutured, creating a tighter, flatter, and firmer abdominal wall.
A new hole will be created for your naval and the layer of skin and fat will be stretched over the abdominal wall. The excess fat and skin that hangs over the original incision will be cut away and removed.
Through tiny holes arranged in the incision, drainage tubes will be placed in the abdomen to allow fluid to escape while you heal.
Dr. Sajjadian will finish by making any necessary surgical modifications required. He will then close the incisions with sutures. A compression garment will be placed on your abdomen for support and to aid in the healing process during your recovery.
Mini Tummy Tuck
Depending on the extent of correction needed, Dr. Sajjadian may recommend a mini tummy tuck, a variation of the traditional tummy tuck procedure. Mini tummy tuck is performed through smaller incisions and is designed to treat patients who have minimal excess skin. It does not involve tightening the abdominal muscles or relocating the belly button higher on the abdomen. During your personal consultation, Dr. Sajjadian will inform you whether you are a good candidate for mini tummy tuck, and will explain if it may help you achieve desired outcome.

Cost and Financing – Tummy Tuck Newport Beach
Your Recovery
Abdominoplasty is an out-patient procedure, so you may go home the day of your operation. Your tummy tuck Newport Beach will be performed in Newport Beach or in Orange County.
Abdominal swelling is expected for a few days as is some pain and discomfort. You will be given medication to control the pain and make you comfortable. A pain pump may be inserted during surgery to aid in your comfort. Standing up straight will be a problem at first, but you should start walking as soon as possible to avoid blood clotting.
Some patients return to work relatively early, within a week, but you should expect a minimum of two weeks before going back to work, or longer if your work demand strenuous activity.
A mini tummy tuck is a less invasive procedure with a faster recovery rate that can be done if you are relatively close to your ideal body weight. Also, called a mini-abdominoplasty, this procedure tightens the lower abdominal wall skin only, providing the shortest possible scar. A full tummy tuck (standard abdominoplasty) tightens the entire abdominal wall and skin.
Dr. Sajjadian will schedule several follow-up visits to check your progress as you recover from surgery. He will advise when you can return to work, exercise and your regular daily activities. Recovery varies by patient, but most are back to work after two weeks.
The cost of tummy tuck varies with the specific approach that Dr. Sajjadian takes (mini vs. traditional tummy tuck) and other factors. We will discuss tummy tuck cost during your initial surgical consultation and provide more information about available financing options.
Picking a Plastic Surgeon
It is vital that you pick an accomplished surgeon for your abdominoplasty procedure. Your surgeon should have the right qualifications and credentials. These should include board certification, good standing with medical community and various medical boards, and impressive education, experience, and surgical track record.
Pay attention to the support staff as well. These will be the team members that you will lean on during your time of recovery. They should be professional, friendly, and compassionate. Make sure you are comfortable with the entire team.
You should do your homework and meet personally with each surgeon you are considering. It is also important to check out the facility where the surgery will be performed. Is it accredited? Don’t rush into something so important. Take your time to get well informed.
