Laser Skin Resurfacing – What to Expect

Laser skin resurfacing is performed on an outpatient basis. Prior to the procedure, Dr. Sajjadian meets with patients to evaluate the initial condition of their skin. He may recommend patients apply special creams or lotions to prepare their skin for the treatment to achieve the best results.

Dr. Sajjadian begins the procedure by applying topical anesthesia to increase patients’ comfort. Then, he carefully administers the laser over the treatment area. As the laser is moved over the treatment area, it removes the outer layer of the skin to reveal radiant, younger-looking skin cells. The procedure can last up to an hour and a half, depending on the extent and the amount of laser skin resurfacing.

Following the procedure, Dr. Sajjadian may recommend his patients apply ice packs or take medication to minimize swelling and discomfort. He also suggests patients avoid sun exposure for a few weeks after the procedure. Patients typically are able to wear makeup one to two weeks after laser skin resurfacing.

I’ve had Fractora done to my face with Dr. Nancy which was absolutely amazing throughout the whole procedure, she made sure to explain everything in details before the procedure and took her time answering all my question. she also made sure to check on the pain level very frequently during the procedure! Overall I’m very happy with how this went.

Laser Skin Resurfacing Orange County FAQs

Laser skin resurfacing precisely removes dead and damaged skin layers on the surface. The new skin cells formed during the healing process deliver a tighter, younger looking skin surface.

The laser blasts the epidermis and simultaneously heats the underlying skin (dermis), stimulating collagen production. This results in a healthier skin tone and texture.

Laser skin resurfacing can be merged with other treatments to assist you in reaching your goals for skin rejuvenation.

Fractional CO2 lasers are some of the best because they are safe, effective, and have minimal downtime and Sid effects.

A partial-face laser abrasion takes 30 to 45 minutes, and the full-face treatment takes 1-1/2 to 2 hours.

An average of two weeks is the anticipated recovery period for this treatment for most patients.

Most patients need three to four appointments to see the most optimal results. On average, most patients get to enjoy silky-smooth skin that lasts for anywhere between 2 and five years after undergoing laser therapy.

Laser treatment is a useful and efficient way of reducing the appearance of acne scars.

Treatment is tolerable and, for many patients, is minimally painful.

The fractional laser is associated with a relatively low rate of adverse effects. Transient redness and dryness were observed in most patients but tended to resolve spontaneously in a week. Temporary acne aggravation is another common minor side effect.

The fundamental difference between ablative and non-ablative treatments is that ablative lasers remove the top layer of skin. In contrast, non-ablative lasers heat the underlying tissue (without harming the surface) so that your body will produce new collagen.
