When people think about a “good” nose, what they’re really thinking of is a nose that’s properly proportionate when compared to other features. If you feel embarrassed or self-conscious because of a distracting or ill-fitting nose, then you might want to seek surgical correction. Rhinoplasty is one of the most popular surgical procedures designed to improve oversized, crooked, and troublesome noses. Rhinoplasty is more than an aesthetic change; people who undergo rhinoplasty gain a lot more confidence and self-esteem.
Dr. Sajjadian has a long history with rhinoplasty, and today, he is recognized as one of the top rhinoplasty surgeons in Newport Beach and Orange County. Not only does he have in-depth training in nasal and facial surgery, but he is also published and has lectured extensively on the topic.
Dr. Sajjadian strives to create a subtle but beautiful improvement in the overall aesthetics of the nose and face. His goal is to create harmony between the nose and other features like the eyes and the mouth. He’s an exceptional surgeon, because he uses his skillful hands and artistry to make small, subtle, and natural looking changes that bring the nose into better proportions with the rest of the face.
Preparing for Rhinoplasty
Your first step before the procedure is to meet with Dr. Sajjadian at his Newport Beach practice for a personal consultation. During the consultation, Dr. Sajjadian will examine your nose and other facial features and ask you what you’d like to improve about your nose. You may have concerns about any of the following:
- Bump on the bridge
- Oversized nose
- Upturned/droopy tip
- Bulbous tip
- Oversized nostrils
- Deviated septum
Dr. Sajjadian will also inquire as to what you’d like your nose to look like after your procedure. It’s good to be as specific as possible—maybe even bring in a photograph of your “ideal” nose. Dr. Sajjadian will give you a better idea of what is realistic and reasonable.
After you’ve mutually agreed on the goals of surgery, Dr. Sajjadian will describe the approach he plans to take with your procedure. He will also give you instructions for preparing for surgery; these instructions will include avoiding certain medications, quitting smoking, and generally taking good care of your body up until your day of surgery.

The Rhinoplasty Procedure
Rhinoplasty surgery is typically performed on an outpatient basis at a local surgery center in Newport Beach or Orange County. You will receive anesthesia to help you sleep comfortably during the procedure.
The approach that Dr. Sajjadian takes with your procedure depends on the goal of surgery, your nasal anatomy and other factors such as facial features and nasal airway/breathing. He will use either the open or closed technique. If he is performing an open rhinoplasty, he will make the surgical incisions across the strip of skin separating the nostrils (called the columella). If he is performing a closed rhinoplasty, he will keep the incisions within the nostrils. Open rhinoplasty allows for better visualization and access to the overall nasal structure, whereas closed rhinoplasty is a less invasive approach reserved for minor nose reshaping.
Through the incisions, Dr. Sajjadian will separate the skin from the underlying tissues and make the necessary surgical modification. This could include removing, augmenting or otherwise altering the bone, cartilage and tissue. Dr. Sajjadian will lower and smoothen any bumps, refine the tip/nostrils, and bring the nose into better proportion with the rest of the face. When he is finished with the procedure, he will close the incisions with sutures and place surgical bandages. He may also place a splint to help the nose heal.
Types of Rhinoplasty
While the majority of Dr. Sajjadian’s rhinoplasty patients are interested in the traditional rhinoplasty procedure, he also offers:
- Revision rhinoplasty – repairs the results of previous nose surgery
- Ethnic rhinoplasty – addresses features that are unique to specific ethnicities such as Middle Eastern, Asian, Hispanic or African American ethnicities
- Septoplasty – corrects a deviated septum
- Nasal obstruction correction – treats breathing problems involving the nasal air passages by addressing turbinates, septum or nasal valves.

After rhinoplasty, the nose may be swollen, sore, tender, or numb. These side effects will gradually subside with time. During your initial recovery, it’s important to keep your head elevated at all times (including while you sleep), rest, and avoid any strenuous activities such as lifting or bending.
Because he’s committed to your care, Dr. Sajjadian will meet with you several times during your recovery to check on your healing progress and advise you on when it is safe to return to work or school or your normal routine.
Rhinoplasty Cost and Financing
The cost of rhinoplasty will depend on a few things, including the specific approach that Dr. Sajjadian uses for your procedure. You can discuss the cost of rhinoplasty in greater detail during your initial surgical consultation as well as additional financing options available at our practice.
