Tummy Tuck

Having a tight, toned stomach is an attractive quality, especially in the beach communities of Southern California where bikinis are a uniform staple. Some people are able to enjoy a pleasing abdominal contour by following a serious diet and exercise routine; others suffer the ill effects of pregnancy and weight loss, and need some help to achieve their desired abdominal appearance. Tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty, is designed to tighten and tone the stomach by removing excess skin and fat. As an added benefit, the procedure also tightens the abdominal muscles that have weakened or separated, creating an “internal girdle” that keeps the stomach flat and toned.

One of the top and most respected tummy tuck surgeons in Newport Beach is Dr. Sajjadian. He combines his passion for artistry with his surgical expertise to create beautiful tummy tuck results. Thanks to his outstanding surgical record and his satisfied clientele, Dr. Sajjadian is the tummy tuck surgeon of choice in the Orange County area.

Preparing for Tummy Tuck

If you’re interested in tummy tuck surgery, Dr. Sajjadian will meet with you for an informative consultation. This meeting serves two purposes: first, Dr. Sajjadian will educate you about the procedure and what it entails; second, he will determine whether you are a suitable candidate by inquiring about your goals and desired results, and performing a physical examination of your skin. He will look at areas of excess fat and skin and inquire about your surgical goals. Based on this information, he will draw up a treatment plan that addresses your unique concerns and is tailored to your individual needs. This allows for the most natural-looking and beautiful results.

What Happens During Surgery

Tummy tuck surgery is performed on an outpatient basis at a local surgery center. Anesthesia will be used for your comfort.

Dr. Sajjadian begins by making a horizontal incision right above the pubic area, extending from hipbone to hipbone. Commonly, “C-section” scars are removed at the same time. Through the incision, he will liposuction areas of excess fat, remove excess saggy skin and strengthen the abdominal wall to create an internal girdle that keeps the stomach flat and toned. He may also make an additional incision and relocate the belly button to a higher area on the abdomen. The result is a flatter, tighter stomach.

When he is finished making the necessary surgical modifications, Dr. Sajjadian will close the incisions with sutures and place surgical dressings.

Mini Tummy Tuck

Depending on the extent of correction needed, Dr. Sajjadian may recommend “mini tummy tuck”, which is a variation of the traditional tummy tuck procedure. Mini tummy tuck is performed through smaller incisions and is designed to treat patients who have minimal skin sagging. It does not involve tightening the abdominal muscles or relocating the belly button higher on the abdomen. During your personal consultation, Dr. Sajjadian will inform you whether you are a good candidate for mini tummy tuck, and will explain whether it can help you achieve your goals.

Tummy Tuck Recovery

You will be released to go home shortly after your procedure. For the first few days of your recovery, you may have swelling, bruising and tenderness in the abdominal area. It’s important to get plenty of rest, eat healthy foods, drink a lot of water and avoid any strenuous activity, including bending and lifting, which could increase the risk of complications. Gentle walking is encouraged to prevent blood clots.

Dr. Sajjadian will schedule several follow-up visits to check your progress as you recover from surgery. He will advise when you can return to work, exercise and your regular daily activities. Recovery varies by patient, but most are back to work after two weeks.

Tummy Tuck Cost and Financing

The cost of tummy tuck varies based on the specific approach that Dr. Sajjadian takes (mini vs. traditional tummy tuck) and other factors. We will discuss tummy tuck cost during your initial surgical consultation and provide more information about available financing options.
